Here at Dame Ellen we provide many opportunies for our children to develop and improve their PHSE skills in the areas of self help and citizenship. We encourage the children, where possible, to be as independent as they can, providing opportunities to teach and practice vital life skills such as dressing, doing up buttons and laces, using a knife and fork and washing their hands and bodies. We also provide many opportunities to play games and activities where they can learn skills such as turn taking, following rules, sharing and joining in.
Forest School also forms part of our PSHE and each class will experience outdoor learning in our wonderful grounds throughout the year in order to build confidence, team work, a love of nature, physical strength and well-being.
We also learn about how diverse our world is and we will explore and celebrate these differences and will all share the ethos that there are no outsiders in our school and that it's ok to be different. We will do this through a range of story books, role-play, songs, assemblies and celebrations, alongside our school values.
Please find below our PHSE overview, along with the story books each class will use to celebrate and explore diversity.
