Deers

Welcome to Deers' class page!

Welcome to Deers class. We are a class of 10 children and we follow the Orchard pathway.

Mrs Eaton is our class teacher and our wonderful teaching assistants are Pari, Aisha and Cameron.

Autumn 1

This half term we have spent the first 2 weeks getting to know each other and our new environment and made new friends and relationships. Our topic has been ‘Pottery & Sculpture’.  This involved a lot of messy play and exploration for our children! Relationship Between Sculpture and Ceramic - Modern Sculpture Artists

Throughout the half term the children have enjoyed exploring different textures such as play dough and slime.  We've also enjoyed sculpting clay.  The children really enjoyed making their special tiles for the arts exhibition.  We cut the clay and then made marks using a variety of tools.  The children then used symbols to communicate the colours and patterns that they wanted to make on their tiles.

Autumn 2

This half term the children were really excited to experience our Winter Wonderland topic.  This topic provided the children with opportunities to develop their independence and functional life skills.

It also helped them to build real-life skills relating to eating and drinking, as well as an awareness of winter weather.  The children really enjoyed making items to sell at our Christmas fayre, such as gingerbread men and Christmas tree decorations.

We also enjoyed learning all about The Snowman and explored role play and snowy sensory trays.  The children also thoroughly enjoyed their very own 'snow day'

Spring 1

During Spring 1 the children are looking forward to learning all about Jack and the Beanstalk.  We will be visited by 'M & M' theatre company to experience a live Pantomime.  We'll also be planting our own beans and learning about changes and how things grow.  Our focus text will be 'Jasper's Beanstalk' which is already one of our favourite five books.  Deers are looking forward to Spring!
