With the sun shining we are more likely to be in areas that have water, I have a challenge for you all! I would like you all to become super water safety sheriffs. 💫

It is really important to be safe around water, as it poses many dangers even to the strongest swimmers. Did you know that around 44% of accidental drownings happen between May and August. Over the next few weeks I would like you to complete some activities, you can send me a picture of the completed projects or send them into school.

1. Create a poster which includes rules to be followed when you are around water. This can be hand drawn and coloured, created on your iPad/computer or pictures cut out and stuck on to make a poster. You can be as creative as you wish! I will display these posters around school to encourage all of the other children to be water safe!

2. Use google maps to look at a five mile radius around your home, look at how much water you live by! Can you make a 3D model to represent your local area? I have attached some pictures for ideas!

And finally, play in water! Enjoy the lovely weather and get the paddling pool out. Although, make sure you demonstrate the rules you have learnt and be safe.

This is a link for the canal and river trust website. There are some wonderful games for the children to play all related to water safety, there is lots of information and resources should you wish to use them.

I hope you enjoy the challenge!
