World Book Day 2018
The children and adults had great fun celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 1st March. There were lots of amazing creative ideas for costumes and we held a school parade. The judges had a very difficult decision choosing a winning costume for each class! After much deliberation, our winners were....
Freddie (Lambs), Lucas (Caterpillars), Archie (Dolphins), Zak (Monkeys), Amarah (Seahorses), Riyan (Bears), George (Foxes), Mariam (Owls), Matthew (Hedgehogs), Isaac (Meerkats), Katherine (Sharks) and Xu (Lions). The children proudly collected their prize of a new book to take home.
Mrs. Patterson won best costume for her character of the hare from Aesop's fable 'The Hare and the Tortoise'
We continued celebrating our love of reading and books through different activities in our classes.
Here is just a small taster of what some classes got up to.....
Sharks Class listened to a story about pancakes and then made their own pancakes! The also designed front covers using different types of media.
Hedgehogs Class explored fairytale characters in traditional stories and watched extracts from Shrek. They used their measuring skills to show how many ogre footsteps it would take to reach Princess Fiona in the tall tower. They also acted out parts of the story and went on a library scavenger hunt.
Meerkats went on a 'bear hunt' around the classroom!
Foxes made mini story books and had storytelling using puppets. They also retold stories using weird and wonderful props.
Owls Class linked their World Book Day celebrations to an Alice in Wonderland theme. They made pictograms and held a Mad Hatter's Tea Party.
