Spring Update

Since our last report, we have been actively checking on our hedgehog homes that were recently bought and placed in our grounds.  So far there are no sign of any hedgehogs moving in.  We will keep you updated!

We noticed that our newly planted Christmas tree was on a bit of a slant.  We are putting the blame on“Doris”.  Thankfully, Craig has straightened it up again and all is looking well.  We are having a plaque made to go next to the tree, with the names of the 2016/17 school council, whose idea it was to plant it.

Snack trays are still going well and a different school councillor helps with this each week.  We are always very busy, thanks to the great service we provide and the wonderful choice of yummy treats!

The children have been involved with the new design for the playground and have put their ideas forward to Miss.  Fountain.  We have also decided on the name for the new building.  Watch this space for the big reveal!

During our latest venture, we have been collecting old wellington boots.  We have drilled holes in the bottom of some of them but had to send the rest to be finished by a professional (as we had so many to do!)  We will be filling them with bedding flowers and selling them to raise money for the new mini bus.

2016-2017

The new school council have already been very busy this year, following on the 'Hedgehog Project' started by last years school councillors.

The councillors have been out and placed hedgehog homes in different 'quiet' sites around the school. This will encourage the hedgehogs into a safe environment where they will be fed and given water.

This year, we have bought a new Christmas tree, which has been planted in the school grounds by Craig, the care-taker. It looks fab and hopefully will grow to a great height!

This Christmas, the school councillors have decorated our new tree with 'mini' hedgehogs, lights and stars.

To recognise the school councillors idea of having a new Christmas tree,  a plaque will be made in the Summer with their names on so they will be remembered for years to come.

This year, Dame Ellen Pinsent School Councillors have decided to do a project about hedgehogs.

The councillors have been learning all about hedgehogs, where they live and what they eat.

After finding out that  hedgehogs have become endangered, they went to Notcutts to buy some hedgehog homes and food containers. They will be putting these around school as soon as the new-build is finished.

There is a learning wall in the school library where the school councillors put pictures and information they have collected about hedgehogs. The whole school has been included through information assemblies and we now have a ceramic hedgehog that the children will name. It will be housed in the school entrance hall as a reminder, to the children, that we need to help the hedgehogs.
