Dame Ellen Pinsent School

PHSE

Here at Dame Ellen we provide many opportunies for our children to develop and improve their PHSE skills in the areas of self help and citizenship. We encourage the children, where possible, to be as independent as they can, providing opportunities to teach and practice vital life skills such as dressing, doing up buttons and laces, using a knife and fork and washing their hands and bodies. We also provide many opportunities to play games and activities where they can learn skills such as turn taking, following rules, sharing and joining in.

Forest School also forms part of our PSHE and each class will experience outdoor learning in our wonderful grounds throughout the year.

We will be holding a 'Safety Week' from 30th  October and we hope to have visitors in school including those from the Police Force, Fire Service and the RNLI. We will also have fire safety sessions at Forest school and will meet volunteers from The Blue Cross to teach us about dog safety.

We also follow a programme called 'No Outsiders' where we learn, through stories and role-play, about how diverse our world is. We will explore and celebrate these differences and will all share the ethos that there are no outsiders in our school. Watch this space for a date soon to come and see the resources that we use...
