PE & Sport Premium
Primary PE & Sports Premium...
The Government introduced a PE and Sport Premium Grant for schools in September 2013. The PE and sport premium is designed to help primary schools improve the quality of the PE and sport activities they offer their pupils. This funding is currently worth £150 million a year and is being jointly provided from The Department of Education, The Department of Health and The Department for culture, media and sport. For this academic year the PE and Sport Premium has doubled. This year Dame Ellen will recieve a sum of £16,000 plus £10 per eligible pupil.
The Purpose of the Funding...
Schools must spend their money on improving their provision of PE and Sport, but they have the freedom to choose how best to do this;
The previous expenditure and impact reports can be found at the bottom of this page. This outlines how Dame Ellen Pinsent have decided to allocate and spend their money and the sustainable impact this has had to staff, children and our school.
The funding should highlight an increase in participation, standards, attainment, and progress of pupils. Additionally, it should encourage pupils to develop healthy lifestyles and support children in reaching performance levels that they are capable of. This year Dame Ellen have again decided to spend some of the funding on the Bishop Challoner School Sports Partnership. We have chosen the Gold Option which entitles us to School provision with a specialist PE teacher each week in our school, developing and sustaining outstanding leadership, teaching & learning in PE for all our members of staff within the school at all levels and also an enhanced school sport and physical activity programme. Please see the official Bishop Challoner 'SSP Programme 2017-18' below for more detail.
With the additional money this year we are looking into developing a Gross Motor Programme to suit the needs of children across the school. Kate Gray our PE co-ordinator in school is currently researching and liaising with other professionals to develop an action plan to implement over the year. The website will be updated with further developments as they happen.
