Bridging the Gap - Maths
The Bridging the Gap ( BTG ) Group was originally set up following concerns raised at Birmingham SEN Maths Coordinators Meetings regarding the huge gap which now exists between the end of P8 and the new NC Year 1.
Following this the group applied for, and recieved funding from the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM), to continue and expand on this work. Please see the Documents page before to see tracking for NC and P Levels, including teaching activities, outcomes and resources.
Bridging the Gap Documents are available on the left hand
Our group has started its own Pinterest page which can be accessed by clicking here.
We will be adding lots of ideas for resources and teaching activities for mathematical activities.
Pinterest is a web based site that allows the an easy compilation of pages from all over the web. It is very visual and easy to use.
Wave 3 Intervention Materials
The Wave 3 Materials, developed by the National Strategies, were aimed at enabling children who were working at levels significantly below age- related expectations to secure the mathematical understanding they needed to increase their rate of progress.
Whilst the objectives relate to the 1999 Framework for teaching Mathematics, the booklets are full of excellent ideas, providing focused teaching activities which tackle fundamental errors and misconceptions. They should continue to be very beneficial for teachers trying to bridge the gap between P Levels and the new Year 1 curriculum.

The 'Bridging the Gap' Team have been looking at samples of work which provide clear evidence for P Levels in Number. Please use the link below to go to the Moderation pages.
